Art on my Mind 2023
Music workshops throughout July 2023
Showcase: Saturday, July 22, 2023

The Art Gallery of York University is pleased to bring back Art on my Mind, our songwriting, vocal, and performance workshop series. Taking place throughout the month of July, this performing arts program is geared towards children and youth in the Jane Finch community and is organized in partnership with the Black Creek Community Farm. Facilitated by acclaimed R&B singer Kibra and the brilliant Hip Hop/Soul artist Dynesti, the program equips aspiring artists of all disciplines to gain valuable musical skills, ultimately preparing them to shine on stage. Art on my Mind offers emerging songwriters, singers, and performers a unique opportunity to learn from and be mentored by two artists making names for themselves in Toronto’s thriving music scene.
Through our outreach efforts, we will engage children and youth from Jane Finch grassroots community organizations, including Success Beyond Limits, Generation Chosen, Firgrove Learning and Innovation Centre, and Flaunt It Movement. All workshops are free and take place at the Black Creek Community Farm.
In conjunction with the workshops, AGYU will also present the Art on my Mind 2023 showcase, a live performance event that will take place July 22.
Bus tickets and snacks provided to all workshop participants. Participants need not register for all workshops. To register for a workshop please contact Allyson Adley, Education and Community Engagement Coordinator, at aadley@yorku.ca
The Art Gallery of York University thanks the Toronto Arts Council, the Toronto Arts Foundation, the Black Creek Community Farm, and Flaunt it Movement for generously supporting this program.
